Recently my tempeture gauge stopped working. Does anyone know which sensor and wire on the T-stat housing goes to the dash temp gauge? I may have to do some re-wiring or get a new gauge. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Thanks.

Body plug M1 pin 6 check continuity between that pin and the temp sender sensor. I'm not sure what the wire color is as I scraped my harness and went custom.

I think it is the single pin sensor on the side of the housing. Just check with the multi meter until you find the correct one.

When you search this pic will come up in many threads ;)

Make sure the wire isnt broken or came off the sensor. This is a very common problem.

ok thank you guys for the info, i also searched and found that picture. I was thinking that the A/C fan switch sensor was the temp sensor. Now that i got that figured out, does anyone know which color wire goes to the temp sensor gauge? because i'v been messing around with those wires trying to figure it out i may have them backwards.

ok i went out and bought an aftermarket temp gauge, i didn't have time to fully wire it up in the car today, i'll be doing that tomorow. But i did have alittle time to do a fast mock up under the hood with the wires to the gauge just to see if i could get a reading off the stock temp sensor. I connected all the power and ground wires, then i connected the gauge sensor wire to the stock temp sensor. This was after the car was just running so it should be at operating temp. When i connected it to the stock sensor i got no reading at all. I then touched the sensor wire to the A/C fan switch sensor and the gauge poped up to like 220* it stayed at that temp even after the car had sat for a couple mins. Would this be an accurate reading of my cars temp? Theres no reason my car should be over heating, the car has been driving perfectly normal other than the fact that the stock temp gauge just stopped working.

Your thermostat starts opening at 187-194 Degree's, it should never rise above 212, if you have this issue something is wrong are you sure it was 220 degree's. it is possible your sensor is done.

Hope this helps you.

i just put a 180* t stat in the car... also the temp sensor gave me NO reading at all.. it was the A/c fan switch sensor that gave me the reading of like 220*

To my knowledge it would be the same, are you sure it is 220? There could be some different issues you may run into. It should not be at 220.

well i dont know that it was at exactly 220* i just remember seeing it just below the 230* mark so i was guessing at 220, im getting ready to go out right now and get to work on it and see what happens. I really dont think my car is over heating though cause It drives just fine and when i park it there are no signs of it over heating. The radiator is touchable and just warm, not burning hot. Theres no hissing from the rad. cap, and its not going into the over flow tank. everything just seems normal.

Ahh see, all good now. I was sure your a/c would not be reading correctly.
