Yeah I mean...they're not all bad, I'm only 19 myself.

Anyway though, I was real angry with him at the time but by the time we got home, I'd cooled down enough to walk away. I mean basically I see it as lesson learned on my part, don't ride with him until he cleans up his act. And I hope that he learned to be more cautious as well.

I guess I should have expected it though, him and his brother speed what I consider to be excessively (75 in a 55 most of the time, on a 2 lane back road). I'm sure you know the feeling, getting in the car with someone and they just hit the gas as hard as they can till they are speeding 20 over? But this was the first and last time I will ride with him till he pulls it together.

I dont think 20mph over is too bad in most situations, 85 on the highway is the norm here...
Regardless your friend is being a fucking moron. If he keeps shit like that up he could kill himself or worse, someone else. Even though you were completely in the right, its common in such situations that your friend will get pissed off, and be irrational, and act like your a dick because you called him on it. You will usually never get through to them by arguing over it.
IMO the best thing to do (for future references) is just quickly and concisely make your point, then leave it at that so it doesnt turn into a huge arguement(which is also dangerous if hes driving while arguing). Then refuse to get in a car from that point on when he's driving. Hes far more likely to get the msg from your refusal to ride with him, and even if he doesnt, at least he isnt gonna kill you.

I have a friend who drives like that all the time, he continues to endanger other peoples lives by swerving through traffic and cutting people off. It just pisses me off when he knows that hes driving like a maniac and he knows hes putting lives in danger. He has gotten tickets for speed, running red lights etc etc but he continues to do so. People are just dicks and assholes when they get behind that steering wheel.

I wouldn't have so much of a problem with it if it was the long straight 4 lane highway around here, but its all the back roads, they are just normal 2 lane (1 in each direction) roads but are all 55 because thats the state speed limit, and they normally go about 85 on them. Its kind of hard for me to explain the roads around here over the internet, but I don't know a lot of people that would think that 85 is a reasonable speed for roads around here.

And the fact that 20 over (at least here) is a higher level traffic violation than a normal speeding ticket.
