sounds like something with the wastegate to me.

it should be possible to use a boost controler and lower the boost?
i may be wrong, but just a thought

All a boost controller does is interrupt airflow to the wastegate actuator/diaphram to RAISE boost. You can never run lower boost than your wastegate spring is providing.

In other words, if it's not working properly without a boost controller, it will continue not working properly with one.

when did it start doing this? did it just do it all at once one day? b/c if your diaphram is bad, then it wouldn't create a seal for it to work correctly. so in a sense it would keep spinning up to 13-14, wherever it would hit fuel cut. but by the time the fuel is cut off its already spun up to 15, from the momentum more or less. i think that makes sense to read? that is my theory on it.

Well I only started having the problem when I put my new exhaust on. I am running 3" downpipe into 3" test pipe into 3" catback. It is very free flowing. I also know I can use my silencer and sort of restrict my air flow. Doing this limits my boost pressure to only 10 psi making me not hit fuel cut. So if I had to guess I would say the waistegate isn't openning or working properly and this will carry on even if I highered the fuel cut via standalone or what have you?
so what are we talking for replacements..... Like a new actuater? or a new turbo assembly??
Saying the waistegate is the problem... will the dual port actuator off suprasport fix it..

yeah thats what it sounds like then. the one from supra sport should work, but how long are you gonna keep this turbo? maybe its just me but i wouldnt' spend $100 on an actuator. b/c you can pic up used or sometimes rebuilt ct-26's for around $200 on ebay and stuff. see if someone has an old one you can get off them. that way if it does not fix the problem you wont be out alota money. thats what i would try anyways. still i would checked to see if the gate can open freely and there is nothing blocking the linkage first. unless yoru satisfied with the 10lbs your runing with the silencer.

you would prob have to let them know about it at the time. but yes they would be able to get you one i am sure. i would still ask around and try getting a used one off somebody and see if that fixes it. did you ever take off the actuator and make sure the gate moves back and forth freely? never know, something might have gotten caught up in there and is keeping it from moving. you said you just put on a new dp right? now is that the style that gets rid of the old elbow and everything? something mighta been built wrong and it not letting your wastegate open. i would deff check that too. lol i guess i am just trying to cover all aspects here......

I didn't actually install the dp but purchaded the car with it already. But it is not the type that replaces the elbow. i have not check the wastegate opperation yet because I'm thinking of which tool it need to use. I don't have any speciallty tools such as the one listed in the shop manual. I'm thinking I can use anything that will supply 8 psi to the acuator , right ???

Wait, you have the stock elbow?
And you said you could compress the actuator, with it still hooked to the gate?
With the actuator hooked to the gate, pushing the actuator towards the rear of the car you open the gate with no restriction until it hits your stock elbow, then it would compress the actuator. If the gate isn't opening, it is possible that there is a large build up of carbon behind the gate on the stock elbow impeding the movement of the wastegate flapper.
Solution: Pull the stock elbow and pull the actuator rod towards the rear of the car and verify that the flapper moves open and closed "freely"
You will be fighting the actuator, but it should move like it's hooked to a spring, not rusted in place.

will try... thanks for the input.
This whole week is dedicated to getting my car up for autocross on the sunday after easter. I would really like to run my car without the silencer but if we can't fix this problem I will have to run with it.
