i have the rally 87 round 11 video with the supras in force
there was a team of three
one of the rally driver + co drivers made it to the next leg... on the plane to the next leg they lost their lives so the other two retired out of respect for them

but its awesome to watch :D

i'll capture all the shots of them on the video and post em up
for those that are realllllllllll keen i will capture the entire video and send it to them but bear in mind it will be 600mb or so (which i don't have hosting ability for)

I remember seeing a set of the springs/struts used on those cars. (Longer of course for excellent wheel travel.)

Don't know if they had to modify the suspension arms, but I'd imagine the stock stuff would not allow for proper camber angles at that lifted height.

There was a "Ruby's" car with some interesting mods too. (Struts that could be removed out the top, so you could change them easy w/o taking off the upper control arm.) They modified the strut tower, and used a heim bearing at the top and a cross bolt. You remove the bolt, and unbolt the lower mount, and the entire strut/spring comes right out the top of the tower. (The same mod was done to the MK4 version too IIRC.)

I think that car has been retired, or was badly crashed.

Very interesting video of the MK3 rallye cars.

The Ruby's car was retired in favor of a WRX and all wheel drive. The owner of Ruby's is the one that drives it.

that's awesome. lmao @ the music. so typical of '87!!!

if anyone orders that video, and is also a rally fan, especially of the Group B era, i strongly urge you to order "Too Fast To Race" off of that same site. it shows the rise and fall of the Group B cars, some bad crashes, but some awesome Audi 5cyl sounds in it.
i downloaded the video, it took forever, but it was pretty good. it's worth the $20 if you're buying another vid anyway.

Too bad Toyota can't do this stuff anymore. The ST185 Rally cars were what really got me into Rally(and Toyota, well, besides the old MR2).
Good to see the Supra on the dirt though.
