I have my hands on a spare targa roof, and what do you think, if I cut holes in it (like the American style targa, where only the sides come off) would it hold or would it need some kind of reinforcing?:icon_bigg
Do you have any idea?
Thx!

Im not sure I understand. Are you going to put like a sunroof in it or something? Ive never actually taken the inner cover off to see what the structure looks like underneath. My guess is depending on how and where you cut you can keep its strength, but if you cut it the wrong way, you could end up with junk.

nm, you posted a responce already.

So you want to keep the front, middle and rear and basically remove the sides in two seperate peices? I suppose it could be done, but Im not sure how you are gonna deal with the window seals. If you leave the whole side as one piece and make your cut between the mount and the side seal, its might be possible. Some way to seal it all back up is gonna still have to be figured out. as well as a way to keep the 3 pieces together when its on the car.

OIC, yes I suppose that would possible, the thing to know is what the support structure looks like underneath the interior panel. If there is enough bracing there to support the whole thing then it would be do-able

The inside of the targa uses an X style brace. if you do any modding to it you'll have to find a way to reinforce it. If you have a 90+ supra do whatever as the body of the car is more solid and doesnt flex as much.

I plan on putting a moon roof in my spare targa here pretty soon.

Whats a faux T-Top?
My original idea was, how to use my spare targa to make this open-air feeling, no glass, no nothing. Just cheaper as a have a targa laying around

yeah, I hear what your saying. If you got a welder you could reinforce it somehow and make it work to some extent. Of course, you could always just get a set of "wings" and be done with it! :naughty:

But since you got a spare top...I suppose it couldnt hurt to try something with it.

if you like redbull you should definitely give RedWeezl a try. i heard theres a bit of lag, but once that passes the energy boost really kicks in.

Try RedBalls. :D

Anyways, I kinda like the idea of taking WeezL Wings, sticking the roof panel (cut in 1/2) over it and fastening it somehow to them, exactly like a T-Top with full rigidity. Then just fabricating a way to easily slide them off. I have a 91, and if these things are 'relativley solid' w/o tops on, I deeply feel sorry for you guys with older ones!

WARNING ABOUT T-TOPS:
My friend had them on his Camaro. They are much easier to break into than full targas, if they use only a latch instead of bolts. His Camaro was broken into via the T-Top. So if you're set on a T, you might wanna carefully check out locking methods.
