So a few weeks ago I was driving home from the mall and I started to hear this bad tapping sound coming from the engine. And I know it wasnt a rod knock because I already had one of them. It sounded like it was coming from the head and sure enough she just shut off on me and I couldn't turn it back on. It didnt even crank. Prior to this she would overheat a little bit but I would pull over and check her out. I'm asking is what could of caused this big mess?? Overheating? I probly answered my own question but I have to know for warrenty purposes so they dont screw me. Any info would help me out. Thanks in advance!

Not to bash you or anything, but this is terrible reasoning. I know guys that have been through it 4-6 times.

My knock was a "tap", many told me "No, its just the valves". Then I talked to some of the veterans. A tap, is a knock caught early.

Now, its not 100% a knock, it could very well be the valves, check your clearances and compare them the TSRM and adjust properly.

If it's still there, check the studs on the exhaust manifold, this is a common confusion with a rod knock too. You could very well have a knock, so take my advice and dont drive it until its been diagnosed otherwise your boat will sink much faster then it is now.

hope this helps.. good luck
