I've been coersed into doing this thread by some peeps in chat, lol. And also doing this in hopes that it will keep me motivated enough to not set my car on fire :icon_conf
car background; 1983 Ptype, formerly had a 7MGTE in it. Bought the car as a rolling chassis for $200 (I wanted the car ONLY because it had the rare black leather interior)
car looked like this when I found it in South Carolina:
We brought the car home in August of 2004, where it sat for awhile, collecting dust. At that time, we still had our black 1985 we were cruising around in, but the car had suffered damage from a tire blowout and was on its last leg.
In february of 2005, we swapped the guts from my black 85 into this white car.
Wiring harness was completely trashed due to the splicing in of the 7MGTE harness it had before, took about 20 minutes of hacking up the 85 wiring harness to get the car running
The cars first good pix after being cleaned up and driven out to the boonies
Engine bay:
The cars hatch started rusting away, so I replaced it with one from an L-type parts car I had... half assed sanding and painting it to "match". L-type hatches don't have the spoilers, so she's wingless now.
April, 2006 we moved from Florida to SC.... the morning of the move, the engine started spitting oil horribly. No possible way we could have delayed the trip, we started the 600 mile journey anyway, dumping 2-3qts of oil in the engine every 75-100 miles :aigo:
Few months later the engine started overheating erratically, water was disappearing but we couldn't see any leaks. Compression test showed NO signs of BHG, had 180psi in every cylinder.
In August we moved from SC to NY, a 900 mile trip where the car overheated 3 times, still no signs of BHG.
(to be continued...)
