i recently got a n/a jdm motor and want to go turbo without purchasing another motor. can i change that motor over w/o changing internals (ie pistions, rods, crank, etc.) ? i got time and am planing on doing a Auto- 5 spd swap and thought if i went turbo i would do it at the same time. Anything is helpful

You can do it I have my 7mge setup with a turbo right now. You will need to watch how much boost you run do to the higher compression. Keep an eye on your egt's and dont run it too lean so get it tuned. You will need to drill a hole in the oil pan for a oil return from the turbo. the injectors on the ge are 380cc i believe and the turbo injectors are 440cc so find a set of injectors too. Are you going with the r154 tranny(from turbo car) or the w58 (From non turbo car.) Hope this will help Steven.

you need oil squirters in the block.

no, you dont. early model 7mgte's have no squirters in the block, leaving the only real differences aside from turbo oil supply and a single knock sensor, being that the compression ratio is different...

im looking at the r154 thats sittin at my buddies shop that he yanked so he could do an auto swap...(his wife was paralized in an accident) he told me 150 for it with everything needed to swap trannies. From what ive been told i could boost up to about 10 psi if im not doggin the car. ive already got the stuff for a oil cooler to be put in ( sandwich adaptor to relocation kit w/cooler w/lines ). i figured i could tap into that for the turbo lines. im doing the MHG swap with ARP studs right now so the top end is good= new rebuild. What about the 2 spark knock sensors ? where does the other go beside on the driver side of the block? ive also taken care of the J-tube too and ive got injectors already. Any other ideas would be appreciated

ive replaced the oil pump before it went in my car ( JDM oil pan/pump doesnt meet up with our USDM front ends) so i swapped pans and since it was open i put in a new pump. anybody got a wiring diagram so i could hook-up a turbo timer? i wanna go as simple as possible.

i might be able to get a good deal on a 60-1 trim turbo w/lines and such for around 140, could i use a stock manifold or would you advise to go to a aftermarket one?

If you can get a 60-1 for 140 do it with no question.

And its still a ct-26, jsut swapped internals so it will bolt up to the stock manifold.

Aftermarkt (liek the ebay ones) are not advised for what yer doing. Its a different flange on the turbo (ie T4)

Black87- im doing all the work myself, but i do know the guys at dover cylinder head and they will do the head work for 20 bucks including the valve job and shimming. tachyon racing said they could rebuild a old turbo if i brought it to them for about 50 bucks including parts. so i might just take them a blown ct-26 and go from there. i know alot of hook-ups around town from when i raced cars.

s383- i gotta find a stock turbo manifold and maybe just port it out , i got a buddy that can weld and said he can make a good exhaust system for me ( mandrel bent and weld since he works at a truck shop )

that's not entirely true. (the part i bold printed) the N/A (7mge) motor you have came out of a cressida, which has a different oil pan/pickup than the supra. that's why it didn't bolt up. the JDM 7m's that came out of a SUPRA would bolt right in with no clearance issues. (well, aside from the possibility of different motormounts)

to my understanding the supra's overseas didnt come with a N/A-they were all turbos. thats why i had to swap pans. correct me if im wrong but like i said thats why i swapped them.

back to the point- what type of boost do you think i could run safely with the compression with a stock ct-26 and manifold ? im planning on keeping it simple and with the stock injectors where do think i will end up

i got a head that i had reworked from my old n/a motor so now i have a fresh head and MHG w/ARP studs for the top end. bottom is stock but already has ARP main studs and ARP rod bolts i guess that was done by the person that had it before me. everything is tight and well within specs. i just need to find a stock turbo and manifold to start with though. already got a FMIC and hard pipes because i know im going with the stock turbo and manifold.

whats else do i need ? ! ? ! ? !
lemme know what else i gotta do to make it work

so i would have to use a piggyback system for stock turbo ,fuel injectors, and manifold? i have the walbro puel pump already and ive by-passed the "j-tube". what kinda of piggyback would you recommend?
