I have a white supra. Love the look of black on it.. So I got black wheels. And I've fell in love with black lights on white cars as seen on a sweet drift s14 car. Anyways I thought to make it a little different and less "ricey" I made cut outs for the turn signal and reverse light oval things. Putting masking tape over it, sit behind the car with all the lights on and trace the edge with a razor blade. Came out awesome! I painted a coat in a half of plastidip, only because if I wouldn't like it or cops had an issue with it I could just peel it off. Very pleased with the result I'll put up some pictures. I also didn't like the big square light of the supra taillights. So I spent 40$ on really bright LEDs from superbrightleds.com. Wish they were a lil brighter but they're brighter than stock bulbs. Still had a wide spread of light, so I wrapped some aluminum foil around it to direct it forward more, until I can figure out if I can get a little rectangle of plastic acryllic to paint black and drill out circles. The light was a bit spotchy through the taillights and could still see the stupid little dirt on the bottom inside the assembly that I could never get out.

Here's some pictures

Also my dad put that megan racing sticker on the window! The two last pictures I just randomly took tonight. Those are only the parking light brightness.

How so? Carries the black and white look better than random huge red light across the whole back of the car. I think I remember you saying something about how you hate smoked tail lights on some other post anyways.

I did something similar to this on my old 89. I liked it, but if i did it again i would probably use my cup gun to clear them and polish them out to a shine afterwards

Brake lights are too small now, not to mention the plastidip isn't shiny and as it's not translucent, won't let the reflectors work (i.e. nice fat ticket)

Bad idea imo like others have said, potential large ticket. If you want the black look just use niteshade as its actually meant for this purpose.

Get them professionally tinted if you want them darker/black so you have a nice gloss.. Id say that looks awful like the other 16 year old kids running around with their VHT taillights.

As others have already pointed out it's too dark and not glossy. Personally I like them stock, maybe with a very slight tint to it, but not as dark as you've gone.

Hahaha, thanks for the responses. Taillights are the best part? On mine I think they look terrible. The reflector part is a shade brighter than the tail lights. The stupid tail lights have some dirt inside them on the left one, that's why I wanted to smaller lights because I couldn't get that stupid dirt out couldn't get those plastic pieces out didn't know if I was going to break it. Yeah I think the lights look fine but on white I don't really think so. Either need new tail lights, or professional tinting. I could get tinting done, my dad always has good automotive connections but he takes was too freaking long to do anything so I figured I'd try an experiment. Not so high budget you do what you can.

Also, now I feel terrible about what I tried. Also, someone brings up the license plate really? There is only one hole, no lie I can't even get a second screw in it. But don't really care it's a license plate.
