So my tach all of a sudden stopped workin again a couple days ago.

Today it started working again like normal. I took it for a drive and when i put it in park my tach just went down to 0. It jumps a little but goes to 0.

But when i put it back into reverse or drive, it works again.
Maybe is a bad connection somewhere, but why would it work fine when i shift into D?

any ideas on this?

thats really weird. the tach gets its signal from the ignighter so dont matter if its moving or not. id suspect a bad wire from ignigter to dash that works under load. iirc its the solid green wire, ill get pics in the am when its light out of what wire.

Unless you find a way to read a RPM signal, diagnosis is just guesswork.
Most automotive multi meters can read RPM signals. Got one?

If wires are good & you suspect the tachometer is bad all together i have a working extra tachometer. It does not have the original face or a face though. I bought another cluster, well all the components because my cluster didn't have the original faces & the glow gauges didn't work so thats why i have extra gauges lying around. It came from an 87 Turbo. Just letting you know. Hopefully that isn't your case though.

I think the tach is fine cause when it comes on, it works normal... I have a fluke multi meter.. Idk if it has an rpm signal thing or not though...
