do you have a tach signal at the ignitor? Hook a timing light or an extra tachometer to it and check it out. If you have a signal there it is a wiring issue.

follow the ignitor wires to the coil packs. check to make sure if the wires are properly conneted. Are you sure the tach signal is coming off the small connector? I looked at the 2jz wiring and the tack signal is coming off the big connector....and they both use the same ignitor...double check ...

maybe the ignitor is dead? it should be producing a signal at the ignitor.. if its not i'm assuming the ignitor..

I agree. I just went through a bad ignitor. Car was starting and idling like normal. Try revving the car a bit and seeif it revs all the way or just starts to break up. Mine kept breaking up when I revved.....but the stock like idling threw me off until I swapped ignitors.
And yes, my tach was not working either...when hooked up. The signal to the tach and the ecu should be coming from the same wire btw. I tested the igniitor in another car and it was indeed bad.

Well, it runs and drives totally fine. My Avcr and NEO reads the signal fine from the ecu, but when trying to tap any of the signals, nothing is there. The igniter seems totally functional, no breaking at any point.

that happened to me before. I just ran a jumper wire from pin #1 of the small igniter plug to the terminal on the backside of the gauge cluster for the tach to test.

Many different things, an aftermarket tach that can deal with any combination of signals. Also a gauge that reads rpm adn other readings and then a volt meter and the stock tach. None of them read a signal from any of the wires taht are suppose to be sending a tach signal.

Have you tried running a wire staright from the ignitor to the tach signal directly? or are you picking them from the harness......there could be a break which is what I am getting at.

Did you get the tach to work? I'm having the same problem as you.
Yes i did. You just need to purchase a tach adapter. I got mine off of ebay for like 40 bucks. They are retailed at like 70. It works like a charm. There are a few posts about them with reviews. I forgot the name of mine again. It isnt the msd one, it is the other one.
