I tried that already. The stock tach will not work. Problem is that the stock tach is weighted to work with the needle the way it is. When you move the needle to the straight down position, the tach does not move anymore, because of how it's weighted to move. It's like if you use an 89+ tach needle on an 88- rpm, it will not work, cause the 89 is weighted differently. I even made an overlay for the tach....
The only other way would be to use an aftermarket tach or try moving the weights on the tach drive unit, which could be a nightmare...
