t56 tremec into ma70 or jza70

Hi everyone,

has anyone put a t56 into a ma70 or jza70....?
i just want to know if the box does fit into the trans tunnel.

getting the box to bolt onto the 2j is easy and input shaft to suit the clutch i have is no problems, the only thing is if there is room for the t56 to bolt up.

i do know that the tk0500 and tk0600 fit, but not sure about the t56.

any help would be great.

i believe its been done. guy even made a plate to bolt it onto the 7m.

go search it and im sure you'll find plenty of info on it.

T56 is wider than the tunnel back between the seats, if you don't mind some butchery it can be done.

I think Williamb82 has it done. He had plates made to bolt it right up. Search for his name and you will see posts about! But like IJ said it is very large....too large so a custom tunnel will probably have to be made to make room!

iirc, he was planning on selling the plates that he had fabbed, but I'm not sure what became of that.

Why are you looking to get a t56? Is it the whole 6 speed factor or just that r 154's are getting dear as poison in ozz?

i'm looking at a 6spd because i want a stronger and smother shift compared to the r154.

i found osgiken gear sets for the r154 which is excellent, but from what i understand the r154 weak part is not the gears its the thrust washer that fails and damages the gears. i havent found anyone that can fix this problem.. only thing they can do is put a better thrust washer in it.

i'm after a gear box that can handle 600-700 rwhp.

Ive driven a monaro that i believe had a t56 and it shifted very nice, I also like the fact that parts are so easily available here in ozz for them,If you swap one into your ma70 make sure to take pics.
