My car is a sleeper and dead quiet I try not to advertise it's potential on the street.

Ah, there is talk of banning external wastegates from the streets here in Kentucky.

It was on the news, they it's a couple problems

1. Noise
2. Burned fuel isn't going through a muffler or converter
3. It's unhealthy to the environment

They said as of 2008 May a law will be (not hopefully) passed on this issue.

It also said trucks with stacks MUST have a C Converter.

Stupid environmental laws :(

These laws are neither stupid, or pointless.

Read a book...

I'm aware how these laws can help our environment. And I understand why the law is cracking down on these things, I just don't expect how they intend to enforce them, or what they expect us to do about them.

Are they going to pull over every car that is turbocharged?

Do you see what I meant by saying this? I have nothing against these types of laws, I just think it will be extremely hard to bust people that break these laws. You can't hear a car that has an externally dumped wastegate unless it's at full boost. And whoever hits full boost on the streets deserves to be locked up anyway.

You know Matt, the reason they are cracking down is because guys insist on removing the CAT or insist on running an open waste gate or insist on removing the EGR or clean up the engine bay by removing the charcoal canister. I've lost count of the threads that are asking how to do any (and more) of the above.

How about personal responsibility? How about understanding why the air quality laws are there and keeping the car's systems up-to-speed? But no...I see too many young people (and some older ones too) out there that seem to think "it doesn't apply to me".

What kills me about the younger generation is it's going to impact their future...for a lot more years than it will for an old fart like me. You should spend a couple days in Beijing or Cairo...there's a good reason your eyes will start burning and your sinuses block up and run.

I run a CAT converter, and an internal wastegate, and don't plan on dumping it to the atmosphere. But no matter what anyone says, all of my peers believe the laws are BS. I never said once that they were, I just don't understand how they are going to enforce it to stubborn teens who think otherwise.

You see where I'm going?
Sorry if I put it as I'm against keeping my air cleaner.

Just look at the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia...that's how they will enforce it.

I wasn't directing that at you per say, but at the general attitude. Don't give the government the excuse to enforce.

Now...back to our originally scheduled programming.
