the 62-1 is for the t4 manifold right? and its larger than the 60-1? how much boost can you get from those, keep in mind i rebuilt the whole block however i think i shall try out the t88h before i sell it. all this talk about "once it kicks in it gonna take off/ burn tires" makes me wanna try it. however im missing the rear flange of the turbo. anyone know where i can buy that?

you were drunk when you wrote this huh? :D

Anyway, stop saying sp60-1! It's sp60 or sp61. Two different turbos - the 61 being the newer version of the 60. However, there is a 60-1 and a 62-1 to4 series. Sp turbos are wayyyyyyy better.

If you want quick spool, good top-end power and traction loss down to a minimum...if thats even possible...go with the sp63, 66 or 67 with a .84ar. These turbos are near perfect if not perfect for the 7m.

edit: with supporting mods and bigger tires ;)

Unless I am mistaken the Greddy 88 is actualy a t-66 or something, it is not a true t-88. Lag is always overrated by those that have not run a big turbo yet. My sp71gtq came online fast as sh*t and was boosting to the moon by 4000 rpm, once the boost started to come online, late 37xx rpm it just rockets.

Greddy uses Mitubishi turbochargers. They are not comparable to Garrett or Garrett knockoffs. A Greddy T88 is based on a Mitsubishi TD08. I have a TD08-29B 14cm^2 on my car right now. I have been for rides in cars powered by Greddy T78s (TD07/TD08 hybrid). The standard turbine housings on the Greddy kit turbos are HUGE. A T78 with a smaller back housing (equivelant of .84 in Garrett speak as opposed to 1.0 that is standard) is spooled at 4000 rpm on a 2JZGTE w/ cams (that quicken spool). I haven't experienced a T88H in person but I can guarantee that it will spool later than the two similar (smaller) turbos I do have experience with. T88Hs have made 1,200+ RWHP and run in the high 8s in the 1/4 on MK4s.

grimace65- I'd say something along the lines of an SP63 with a .68 backhousing would be good for your goals of 500 RWHP. This would be on racegas and high boost. It will also give a broad poweband and retain good driveability.

Well, it seems that if you can keep the engine running with the timing retarded about 25-30 degrees, most of the fuel will burn in the exhaust manifold. This can power the turbine very quickly with the unfortunate side effect of 1800+ F EGTs. The turbine shaft seal on the old TD08 doesn't seem to care for that much.

What makes SP turbo's so much better? cause they use GT wheels? thier is nothing really special about them..they also use DBB turbo's which have been proven to fail sooner.

I'm sorry, but I will stick to my 750 dollar t04r that I had custom built for me. Although the t04r might not be the hight of technology, and it might spool a little slower then a new SP turbo... but it also costs half the amount.

IMHO stick it on and that way YOU can decide if it spools quick enough. I'm not saying that it will but it may be right up your alley. Some people like nothing nothing nothing nothing F&CK ME DEAD, Where as some people like nothing - weeee - dang - shit - fuck. It all up to you.

Your speaking of two different instances.
One of which I'am referring to of better reliability with newer technology, so yes they are better, and you just answered your own question.
The other, well, that's great! Stick with your $750 upgraded to4s or whatever you had upgraded. It will never be a true to4r, so don't call it one.

Just do it right the first time.

Can't even give an oppinion without getting critizised. Is this supraforums?
