I guess I should start running it also. I've been running the cheap Wally World stuff. Supertech 10W30.

I know...I know... :slap:

German Castrol 0W-30....there's specifics in the Lube Section.
A lot of folks seem to be running it in Supra motors lately ;)

When I did research on this last year the German Castrol was getting more and more difficult to find. I went with the Pennzoil Platinum because I could get it here at WallyWorld. Obviously GC is still around, whats the best source for it nowadays?

I get mine at Autozone, as that's the only place in my town that carries it. I also think that Pepboys carries it as well, but I can't confirm that as we don't have a Pepboys up here.

PepBoys in Arizona carries it. AutoZone too.
Just make sure you get the right bottle...GC has "Made in Germany" on the back.

For a conventional oil, SuperTech is actually not bad. SuperTech filters as well...made by Champion Labs, same guys that make Mobil 1 and K&N. I'd use a SuperTech any day over a Fram or any brand that Fram makes. That goes for the Toyota (made in Thailand) filters too.

im a big fan of mobil 1 5w30... i run it in everything i own... from the wife's daily driver dodge neon (which saw a really decent mpg increase when i switched over to the synthetic)... to my 350whp ford focus... my supra... and my 83 k10 chevy w/ built smallblock....

ive noticed a few things... mpg increases over conventional oil was around 3-5mpg in most everything... not so much in the truck... but not too worried about that... the cars all run a LOT smoother while running the synthetic over the conventional ive noticed.... they also seem to run quieter (normal engine/valvetrain noise... not knocking, etc...)

i havnt tried to many others due to lack of availability in my area and costs... but im happy with it.

anyways... my .02

Mobil 1 is a middle of the road Group III hydrocracked dino oil...it's not a "true" PAO or ester based synthetic. There are far better oils out there...if you are going to run a Grp III oil, Pennzoil Platinum is much better due to the hydrocracking process used to produce it and it's additive pack. Not too sure why you're such a "big fan" of a mediocre oil, but a little research just might change your opinion.

I run 10W-30 per the owner's manual for my 90 Supra Turbo. I've heard other weights used but I have neverh ad issues with my oil so I'll stick to what works.

A 0W, 5W, and 10W-30 oil all have nearly the same viscosity at engine ops temps...it's a API requirement to be called a 30W multi-grade. The difference is cold viscosity...a 0W or 5W-30 oil is lower viscosity cold and will flow better. The bottom line is any 0W or 5W-30 oil can be substituted for a 10W-30 called for in the Supra manual with no problem. You will get better flow cold and less wear as a result.
