You can do it for much cheaper than that, you don't need to buy parts that are rated to 7 second e.t. power levels.

I agree it's not cheap but you don't have to spend that much.

Much cheaper? Yeah, you could buy a used transmission if you want and risk of having to take it apart after a year or you can get a good new trans that was built for power and not worry. Always do a little over kill is what I say. ;)

I never said anyone had to spend 4k to do a swap. All I said was that a really good set up will cost a bit over 4K.

Th400 built with a highflow pump to handle our rpm with a transbrake.
Custom torque converter to handle the HP.
Adaptor plate with a flex plate and hub adaptor
GM front yoke
Custom driveshaft
Shifter
Transbrake button
custom crossmember
cooling
braided line
dipstick
tune

Add it all up
Hell, the shipping alone on the trann, converter and adaptor plate will run a couple hundred.

The TH350 is no slouch of a tranny, but the TH400 is bulletproof once built.

Personally, if you are breaking r154s, go Lenco or go home ;)

Yeah, you need a big upgrade in cooling, seperate from the radiator if you use a torque converter with a higher stall speed.

ati makes a flexplate, but you have to use their 8in convertors with it. thats why i wouldnt do it. im going to take a th400 later to a local shop with a 7m and my adaptor plate for them to fab a flexplate and snout adaptor to use a off the shelf gm convertor, but thatll be much later. dont need it myself anymore and no money for the r&d currently.
