Hey guys I know some of you have 2jge. What kind of power do you usually see? I'm selling my current 1.5jz (450whp) and picking up a stock na motor from a 95 NA supra with w58.

Think it'll make 200hp? What are you guys doing with these besides IHE? I was thinking safc2, 1jzge ecu, 2.5" pipe, and safc2 and call it good. 200 is fine for daily lol.

Its hella hard to find anyone messing with them. Some dyno graphs would be killer.

Putting a 2.5l ecu on a 3l engine is a no no.

1jz offers no advantage to a 2jz. They make 230 crank stock so basically 190-200 whp.

If you turbo it thats different.

1JZ no advantage? Care to take a ride in my 1JZ or Jostar can comment too. It has it's advantages, trust me. When you start getting upward of 650HP, it is best for a 2JZ, not because of the power level, but because the head flows better for those levels. You always have the option to build the head with oversize valves.

The 2JZ will make that power easier because of the bigger displacment but will not rev as high has a 1JZ, imagine a powerband with a redline of 9,000RPM with a turbo that kicks in with full boost by 4,000-4,500, that will be one long pull.

Yes when a 1jz is single and high power there nice. Bone stock not really.

Wasnt talking about that tho.

He said putting a 1jzge ecu on a 2jzge. No no sir. Wont have the right fuel maps since the ecu thinks its a 2.5.

If you do that, you would have to richen everywhere with a SAFC but it wouldn't make no sense.

That 2JZ-GE you are getting will be a good daily, just do a good job on refreshening it with a water pump, timing service and all gaskets while you have it out and you will be fine.

Don't run it off of 7M electronics either, keep it all stock, it will be worth it, no use in fiddling with 20+ year old electronics that are hard to find working replacements for.

New hoses for coolant would not hurt either and if you have a good budget, maybe you could throw in a new clutch, a stock Toyota clutch would make your leg really happy, I know.

Its cheaper to run off 7m and you can find parts but running the engine with the ecu it was designed for would be a lot smarter.

Thanks guys! Sorry I wasn't clear on my definition of daily. By daily I meant beat the crap out of it and still get to work. Then blow it up and go to the junkyard for a new motor since its cheaper than rebuild parts. Rinse, repeat. Believe me this car is far from what people might call a "daily" in the general sense.

It's this thing: http://www.rhdjapan.com/myridez/Cressida.html lol

And the ecu thing has a few adavantages. Higher rev limit, map sensor, if I raise fuel press it'll add buckets of timing. I've run 1jt ecu on 2jt many times for these exact reasons and I know I can do better with it than some limp dick usdm factory tune. Or I guess if I'm really feeling cheap I could just get a jdm 2jge ecu and leave it alone. It still has the gay rev limit but at least it's map :) I could always go buy another aem but it would defeat the purpose of this whole cheap shitbox thrasher swap idea. I really wish I didn't have to sell my sick motor... Sigh.

I really just wanted to find out if you guys have any little tricks or cheap parts you know of to make this crap motor faster? I won't spend more than a grand modifying it. And anyone got dyno charts? They are hella hard to find! If you have what size exhaust pipe and header do you run?

Again thanks for replies.

Only guy I know of who's dyno'd a 2jzge was a red WIDE bodied Mk4 this last year at SILV. Really nice looking car, was surprising to see that it was an n/a. Guy had ITB's and put down something like 199 or 200whp if I remember correctly. Sounded nice, and considering the weight of the wheels/tires he was pushing the power through, you can't be too mad at that.

You might look into a little digging on celicasupra.com, they're the Mk2 specialists. You can get away with an n/a and still have fun in a 3100lb car, not so easy to do once you start talking about Mk3's and Mk4's...

Nice looking Cressida though man, I take it you and bumps don't get along too well? :p

I might have a chance to get a jdm chassis (jzx81 markII) which would be cool with NA I guess. Cooler than what I've got now. OH yeah and I could lighten it up duh! My current car weighs 3120 with cage and interior. My old one before this weighewd 2800 so there's def room for weight reduction.

I didnt even think about that!
