well ive heard of 3 stories. 1 about sabotage, 1 of just dislike of the platform, and 1 that your 7m blew up even though it was all in check. so im guessing number 3?

Rodknock was what killed my 7M. I was even on the verge of installing the Stinger to really see what my motor was capable of. Sadly, I didn't get the chance. I don't hate the platform, maybe I'll build another one someday. The opportunity presented itself where I was able to get a built block (overbored 2.6 with 9:1 compression), so I just went from there. Most of the mods I was putting on, like the standalone, made the swap easy. The ct26 manifold by Driftmotion let me keep my 60-1 and the BIC divorced downpipe also. Right now, I'm still in the process of break-in. In a few weeks, I should be ready to put some numbers down.

One thing for sure, this car is FUN again :biglaugh:

Finally got a baseline dyno on this new motor. Not too bad.

The 1JZ is running only on the Stinger standalone @ 8 psi, the 7M off stock ECU + VPC + AFC Neo @ 16 psi.

Identical turbo setup (60-1 ct26, BIC DDP), 550cc injectors. Both motors were complete rebuilds.

A couple hundred more miles then up goes the boost. Stay tuned :biglaugh:

The car looks great. The 1JZ install looks very clean. Love to the see the car in person someday. I'm very interested in the numbers you will make with some real boost. I keep thinking that the DM CT manifold set-up is a very reasonable way to go for little cash.

so you are running a 60-1 on the 1jz 1jz and making all that power and the other dyno was a 7m at 16 psi?

I take it the 1jz was 294?

The smoother graph is indeed the 1JZ... still running only ~8psi on the stock wastegate. I'm just about ready to turn it up... just waiting to find the time to get the boost controller set up.

Do you know what killed the rod bearings in your 7M? Was it oiling related or a tuning issue causing the engine to detonate, thus killing the rod bearings?

Most likely oiling. Constantly keeping my 7M always in the high RPMs couldn't have been good either. I've never detonated the engine, so that's definitely not the culprit. At this point, I don't really know yet. I'm having trouble finding the motivation to tear into the engine as it's just sitting in the backyard. Been too busy driving the car again :biglaugh:
