It was readily available... remember, I didn't have a complete clip to start with... just a block and then a head (not even turbos or manifolds). Keeping most of the parts, which were new during the 7M rebuild (turbo, radiator, shroud, dp) was the most convenient solution.

Well here are some more pictures of the build. We started off with the first 1jz block that was installed here in Cali by Mike U. The crank was race prep and fully balanced, after all that it was nitride coated and cryogenically treated. The Rods were shot peen, balanced. The pistons were coated and balanced and all ARP hardware was used. The block has a long history and has swapped hands several times but it ended up in Mike T’s hands to be finished once again.

what a nice memory of urbano to have... i have spent many a days reading some of his posts on supraforums, and he seemed like he would have been one of the nicest guys you could ever meet...
As for this car, can we get some info on the true story of you ditching the 7m... i have heard stories and rumors but i want to hear it 1st hand from you.
