Okay I had the tranny out, replaced clutch etc. and the little clip the release fork sits on. While assembling I broke the crank pulley bolt loose. First how can I stop the engine from rotating to tq. it back to 196 ft./lbs. 2nd. Would breaking the crank bolt loose adjust the timing or throw it?

Here's what happened. I tried to start it, it almost fired up, but it's cranking insanley fast(why i think it may be advanced). It almost melted the drivebelts in 3 attempts of starting. Any ideas?

Put the car in 5th gear, pull the e-brake up as far as you can, preferably have someone hold their foot on the brake as well but if you're careful you can skip that. Torque away, the car will lurch forward a bit but you should be able to torque it down fine.

Loosening the crank bolt will not change timing unless you're missing the crank key (highly unlikely).

Sounds like a timing issue to me, double check your cam timing and CPS just in case they got moved accidently.

Ack! So probably timing issue then. I didn't explain well, but when i broke the crank pulley bolt loose it also came all the way out.(the bolt, not the pulley) So would that maybe throw the timing. Also is it possible to check the timing with the car not running?

Another quick ?

Theirs a wire runs under the driver side, comes out across from the slave cylinder it's a Black wire with yellow stripe. Where does it go? I mounted it behind a mounting bolt for the dampener looking thing next to the starter, because I already had the transmission/starter bolts in. I think it mounts to the lowest starter bolt but I'm not 100% I looked at the TSRM wiring diagrams and I think it may be an ignition system wire.

Edit: Just saw this in the diagram as well.

Thanks, so it shouldn't matter where it is mounted? Or should it be on the bellhousing?

Do you have any idea why my car won't start. It ran great before I removed the tranny and never had any starting issues. What could of changed the timing and how would my CPS have gotten moved? Could the cps get moved by jacking the front of the engine up?

Alright thanks for the response. I can't figure why it would be changed. I just don't understand why it won't start. Very eager to get her up and running again.

It's ALIVE! I think it was the ground I had on the back of the front bottom A-arm. I moved it to the bellhousing and few cranks it started. It's not running right though. Idle is all fucked up surging like crazy, acting like it wants to die. I think I have a boost leak either that or my Bypass valve is toast. about the time i hit positive boost pressure it spikes to say 12-13 PSI in like a second. Pulls like a raped ape still though. Also my temp. gauge bounces up a little when revving high. At first on the stands running when i revved above 3500 was like a grinding/taping noise when i decelerate. Can't really hear it when driving the car though.

Thanks again everyone. Yea I don't think the cps has moved, I wouldn't see how it would move. I tried sliding it amonsgt the moutning bolt and it wouldn't move so don't think it did. My timing belt appeared to be okay. Not sure what the problem is or how to tackle it. Any more ideas anyone?

Edit: Also feels like my throttle response is slower but it might just be me not driving the car in awhile or maybe the idling problem causing it. Transmission shifts feel kind of rough also. I used the redline MT-90

No I haven't touched the TPS, I adjusted the idle screw some it never really smoothed out the idle though it's kinda like the car is missing but it's not. I had a similiar problem when I first got the car and it was the ISC valve, which should be fine now as it was before I removed the transmission. Would my drivebelts being slightly loose cause idle problems? I just snugged it up because I had the timing cover, coil pack cover and some other stuff already off the car inspecting things.
