Hello all. I washed my car today at the car wash and I was using the power sprayer and water got up into the enging and soaked the filter. I started the car in the bay and it was putting then I gave it a little gas the stalled out. I pushed it out to dry for a bit. I waited a out 15 minutes and tried it again but no luck. The other thing I saw is the tach wasn't jumping like it should. So if anyone had this problem before please let me know or if anyone knows what the problem is. Thank you. Sean

Hope you did'nt soak up water through the intake and into the motor......:icon_sad:

Try taking the filter off and see if it starts. It could just be because of the filter being wet if you're lucky.

i did that when i just bought my supra but instead i soaked the spark plug valley and it ran like a old corvette with no power at low rpms and sounded really deep and raspy. changed spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor (na engine) and it ran mint. i guess it was all original at 250,000kms but now its 100% reliable.

You've soaked the CPS. (I'm assuming it's turbo, from the name)
When you said you noticed the tach didn't move, that's a clear sign that the ECU is not getting a signal form the CPS.

Remove the cover, dry it out.

Don't pressure was the engine!

Im going to check on it now cause the last time the tach wasnt jumping the wires going to the CPS in the green clip, 1 wire was not connected so im gonna go check now since it sitting in the car wash parking lot. I did get mass air flow sensor cleaner and clean it and it still didnt work car didnt start and the tach didnt jump so im thining its that wire. Thanks guys

I heard that most afm cleaners are basically shit and cloud up the mirrors inside the afm anyway. Could be wrong but that's my impression atm.

I stopped using universal shit on my engine looong ago in fear of messing it up.

Well I got the car back home and guess what it was!? That dame CPS wire. I unclipped it and blew all the old dielectric grease out and cleaned the connections out and it fired up. Everytime the tach doesnt jump its cause of the CPS. And i have had water in the galleys before and I know what thats like it lugs really bad cause it shorts out the spark. Thanks guys!

I think the MAF cleaner is more for hot wire type MAFs. I personally would avoid using it on the AFM like our cars have.
