I have a friend who has a 1989 toyota supra turbo and we've been working on it for a few days. We can not get it to idle and it overheats. Here are a few things we have noted.
-overheats
-won't idle
-when floored, it bogs and rpms barely increase
-sounds like something is boiling inside the engine near the #6 piston
-misfiring
-no other symptoms of a BHG other than the overheating
-new head gasket, ARP's studs torqued to 80 ft lbs
-n/a cams
-the previous owner said timing needed to be adjusted. It looks like everything was aligned correctly
-basic BPU mods
-replaced thermostat
-fuel cutting out when throttle is applied
We tried swapping out the ignitor, accordian hose and the air filter assembly,
TPS, and ISC.
When we took it for a test drive the trottle was unresponsive and very slow.
The car sounds like it was running okay but it sounded like it was running underpowered.
We have searched the forums for information and answers and we've tried them without success. So hopefully this information will help you help us.:1zhelp::1zhelp:
