For me the Supra is moving to a summertime weekend driver only - will have to see if I even drive it at all this year. My longest drive will be to Vegas each fall - if I can figure out how to not have to haul as much stuff down for the event.

I'll have to pull the wheel off and at least send it in. New leather is a must. Will see what they estimate for the CF inserts.

I had the leather/wood combo on my infinity. "Wood" is good to have.:naughty:

This ain't no racing wheel son, it's a DD wheel. How ofter do your hands stray from the 9 o'clockish and 3 o'clockish positions? Or do you do the gangster lean, one hand on top of the wheel-style driving? :sarcasm:

Quite often I think. The harshest turns begin from the 1/11 o clock position, and if the hand flies from this position, bye bye car? This ain't no KITT, where you have only one place to hold the hands at :D And btw, usually, those parts are the places where the wheels wears out the most? Atleast my last wheel was the worst at 10 o clock or so.

Btw. anyone knows, whether the pre89 and 89 wheels are interchangeable? How's with the wires?
I remember a thread on this a couple of years ago?

Do you have sweaty hand syndrome? I really don't see how you're going to loose grip with the wheel unless you have noodle hands... :dunno:

Ever driven a car with wood grain steering wheel? They have a coating on them similar to what the CF inserts will have.

I have sweaty hand syndrome and haven't had a problem with slippage on a wood grain steering wheel. Granted I've never driven a car with a CF insert steering wheel, but the feel and texture of it shouldn't be much different at all from a wood grain wheel.

I think when the wheel is spinning back to center after a turn, your hands would glide on the leather and stick on the carbon, and would probably be annoying, less comfortable and be hot or cold compared to the leather at different temps.

I've sewn/recovered a couple pre-89's. Not perfect, but the leather is perforated, and top quality. I had/have them for sale for $80.00 with core return, and no takers...
