I bought my first in 1996. It was a 1988 Turbo Targa 5 speed Black/Grey Leather.

I Had it for quite a long time, with no mechanical issues at all. The paint was beginning to check a little, and I worked in a body shop back then, so it changed colors twice: First to medium blue metallic, then to laser blue pearl. I sold it because I got a really good unsolicited offer and have regretted it ever since.

I also had a 1987 White/Blue Turbo Targa 5 speed, that I picked up for $1200.00 back in 2001. Car was in almost perfect shape, probably the best deal I have ever gotten on any car. Didn't really like the color combo and ended up selling it when it was clear my driveway was getting too full.

I also had 2 others that I bought only to paint and flip -- so no attachment to those.

My current Supra is a 1989 Turbo Targa 5 Speed Black w/ brown interior. I bought it a few months ago with 80k miles on it. Pretty good shape, but will probably get it painted in a year or two. I haven't driven it much yet, I have sort of paused right in the middle of my build... Can't wait to get it rolling. I plan on keeping this one for a long time - it's way too hard to find nice ones any more!

Some of you need to ride tricycles they way you brag about destroying engines.

5 for me overall. Mostly very good in the reliability department. One of them I had the head decked .020" and a valve job just because it had 130,000 miles. Then I leaned out the vane airflow meter, and it burned my Fel-pro replacement gasket between cylinders 3 and 4. So like all other Supras, it was done in by the owner.

My first was a 1987 bought in 1994. My 88 sportroof I purchased in 96. In 2001, I bought another 87, that some broad crashed into when it was parked. I had bought an 88 with 200,000 miles and running strong for parts on the 87. I sold that to a neighbor.

And my current one is a 91, that I bought in 2005.

White 1989 N/A Sport Package / White Package
Super clean car. Still kick myself for selling it.

I always like the white package, I think they are called Superwhite. You know who probably knows. When they are in good shape, they just look good.

1st Mk II in '99. Sold it to the 1st person who came to look at it. It was mint black, and I shoulda kept it and dropped a 7M into it. 1st MK III in '01. Burgundy n/a, fixed everything on it, 1st person who came to look at it bought it. Now fixing up my '88T, talk about money pits. But its sure nice in the summer with the targa off, the Weezlwing on, and the ssqv blowing off. Did 150 mph on the highway the other nite, here in Canada thats about 140 kph over the speed limit. Still had alot more in it, too. (3.73:1 diff) Jeezus, my ticket would have been more than the provincial debt.
