Hey guys,

I currently own a 95 Tercel (currently under the knife) and a 93 Corolla. I've always wanted to own a MKIII for the longest time; guess it has something to do with the body lines and the pop-up headlights. I've been ghosting the board for a hwile, doing my homework.

I'm currently looking at an 86.5 shell to start working on. It will be the first RWD car that I will own. Looking forward to having a good time since it seems you guys do a pretty good job at it

Welcome to SM.

The best advice. Can give you is find out exactly what you want from a starting car and don't settle.

For example

Turbo or non turbo
Stick or auto
Targa,sunroof or hardtop

Learn the differences between the models and get the closet thing to what you want from the get go it will be much less headache and money in the long run.

Thanks guys

I'm not too picky about the models; as long as it is manual with a hardtop, I'm good. The 86.5 i'm looking at is manual and hardtop with TEMS and headlamp washers (will double-check) so I'm good.

Whether the car is turbo or not will not matter since I'm looking for a shell, a blank canvas to have some fun.

A Supra with no turbo is like peanut butter without the jelly LOL. Just my opinion, that's not to say there's anything wrong with an N/A Supra. You can always slap a turbo on later down the road. ;)

Well, welcome to SM and good luck on your Supra hunt!

Also body style difference. Pre 89s have different bumpers, rear view mirrors, turn signals, spoilers, tail lights and other little differences that if you like the 89+ look it would just be extra time and money to convert. Just some food for thought, I changed out quite a few of my pre 89 parts for post 89 because I prefer the 89+

MadRPM, so this is what youve been up too, haha. Your going to love your supra. Unfortunately you WILL know and understand how to fix stuff inside and out the second you get one =-).
