if he would send you pics of the oil pan, that would be a give-away too.
Supra = rear sump
Soarer = front sump.
Pretty sure Soarer is rear sump as well.

The way I remember it is, 2 door cars = rear sump. 4 door cars = front sump

supra, Soarer = rear sump

Mark II, chaser, cresta, aristo = front sump.

AFAIK

As far as the engine, I'd be more concerned about the harness than the engine itself. Unless you really want the hydro fan, I wouldn't spend a bunch of time getting the whole motor changed just for that. The electronics are what you should be really worried about. There's a few differences here and there but a 1J is a 1J is a 1J once you take off the harness and other electronics.

I'd be worried about getting a Supra harness and ECU than getting an engine with a hydro fan on it. You can find a 1JZ engine all day long. The electronics are what's starting to become hard to come by.

But if you bought what was supposed to be a Supra motor set, you should have all the Supra related parts anyway to be satisfied...

While we're on the subject of Soarers, what are the major drawbacks of using a soarer 1JZ in a swap, instead of a motor out of a JZA70?

I have searched, but didn't find anything awfully helpful.

That is what I am worried about, I'm definatly way more concerned with the electrical aspect of it. If the electrical was the same, i'd be fine cuz i dont want the stupid hydro fan anyway. It just that i got false advertisement and i myself cant correct the problem.

You can still put a soarer 1jz in your supra, here is a link, http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43888&highlight=1jz+auto

Ds650rida- It isn't that hard at all. I made the thread it is pretty accurate. Just read through it. The only differences from the jzz30 and jza70 1JZ is the wiring harness/ecu, mech. fan and water pump, engine mount brackets, and the rubber engine mounts has the bottom alignment pin off by 90 degrees.

BIC makes the brackets and I would stick with the mechanical fan. It works just fine. And the wiring is posted on the thread I made.

I did check out the page and my decision is beginning to turn around. I already bought the BIC mounts, but I pretty much have my 7m harness already sold, would i have to get the 7m plugs from toyota or are they not part of the engine harness?

Your in jersey, maybe you could come down and give me a hand if you dont mind when i'm ready to put it all togeather. I'll buy you lunch or beer. Or both haha.

I have a lot of people from Tri-state tuners who want to come and help but they dont really know the electrical part of the swaps.

also you could just sell the soarer harness and ecu and buy a supra one, the soarer ones are a bit harder to find so you may be able to make a few bucks also in the proccess
