Who would be willing to put their hands up to organise it? (I'm pretty sure that the more "official" it gets, there will insurance stuff to deal with also which will be expensive and time consuming...)

If you put enough time into it, you could get sponsors, and raise money for charity...

The trip could also be in memory of some of our members who have passed on...

It would be cool to do the Real Cannonball Run but the problem with that is $$$$$$$$ to register. This is very possible to do, Id look into getting it going but have no idea were to start, I think instead of having one of us organize it we get a group. It would be great If we could get sponsors and have some kind of reward for the winner.

I was thinking from Main to Cal.

I agree. Start rate here in Portland. O'ya its MAINE not MAIN.:icon_razz

Maine's boring, and the roads suck.

The state just fixed most of the fun roads and the highway is mostly long straights out of the state. + Portland is less then an hour into the state!!

You're right, I'd be cruising up there in my old car for 10 miles and realize I was going 110 and just staring ahead... but that's half the problem, you go 10 miles and see the same crap!

Most of your long highways are better than our roads though, I've been dealing with the clunk of my swaybar links on my DD every time I go 20 feet.

If this thing happens, i think i would have to be a car slut and ride with a few of you ;)

I agree that you would need a group/committee to plan it... Just remember that you have ALOT to consider and decide on...

First place to start is with a rough idea of where, and how long this will take, then do a cost analysis and look at the viability of it as an "official" event... If it seems like it is possible, you will need to approach sponsors...

Now i know I'm on the other side of the world, but I'm happy to help with research and analysis :)
