well, my 1j project is finally starting to shape up. should be in the car and running in two weeks. it will be all stock except for 550's, 2j map, safc and wideband (which i have but wont go in right away). then exhaust, intake, fmic, flywheel.

now my question is: are there any supporting mods that i NEED. such as AFPR, or can i just run the stocker? i will be just running the car as a daily. not as a track car or anything. so all it will be in for is some spirited driving every once and a while.

also, does anyone know what this is, and if it is necessary? or if i can just bypass it (its on the stock bov)

thanks in advance for the help!

mkiv pump, walbros are alright but they dont have the best reputation for reliability over time.. I didnt have the money at the time to buy a $350 denso pump though haha. Generally I always try to get the best regardless but not this time.

Yeah I had to turn the FP down with an AFPR when I put the MKIV 550's in, just to be able to drive the car. Now I got a SAFC Neo so it's not as important currently, but will be in a few weeks when the single goes on.

yea, im hoping it will be later. im trying to keep the engine basically stock, because it will be my daily for 2 more years until i get out of school. the only reason i am going to have the 550;s is because the harness i bought requires them. and i have an safc. its just not installed. but i wont do any major damage or blow my motor if i drive without the afpr for a few weeks will I?

I drove my car for a few years with just the AFPR and 550's, just don't think you're going to enjoy it. Whenever I would floor it my AFR's would good like 9.0's rich, because the O2 with the FP dropped could control it when just cruising but, under WOT it's game over.

Get that SAFC installed and get at least a basic tune done, you'll be sooooo glad you did.

I'm going single soon. So my supporting mods for my T61 turbo is 440, already have walbro and safc. Should I be worried and get an AFR or will the stock FPR be good for my goal 400-450?
