I'm currently working on a 7mge build up. I have a 7mgte that i build
very quick car lots of fun. I want to do something different. The gte I have is for sale, as for the 7mge I have a super charger that i'm going to fabricate piping brackets and so forth. I got the idea from the 1g-gzeu motor. Any ideas
would be helpful, waste of time? good idea?...

waste of time...the turbo will be more effective and cost a whole lot less and be faster in the end with less headaches and trouble. It is very difficult to supercharge these things and nearly pointless as you can buy them already designed for a turbo. you can get some aftermarket turbos that will perform well in the low end and high.

It would be unique, but wouldn't outperform most turbo'd supras out there short of stock CT's. The only real gain you would get is instant power when you hit the throttle.

Im not trying to build it to be extremely fast I already own a fast turbo supra.
just want to do something different. I have been building differnt kinds of cars for a few years. If it's not going to be relaible build for an everyday driver i might just finish restoring the 7mge and have my wife drive it around. i'ts really just a 5th car at the house. I was even thinking about putting twin turbo's on my 88 vette just to see.

hmmm..... interesting...... you could do something like detroit diesel, and make a supercharged, and turbocharged 7m-gte........ j/k, thats a terrible joke. but as for superchargeing........ bad idea, unique, but bad. if you are bored of a supra, get something else. Go all motor honda or something.......

Actually that would be a good performing engine!
its called twin charging the supercharger can build your low to mid hp then kick off because it is tuned for lower rpms then the turbo kicks in from mid to high rpm!

I will never be bored with supra's. Just a little brain storming I think i'm going to start on it and tt the vette next year. Not looking for a lot of boost just around 8-10 psi out of the super charger. One reason I want to do it is no one offers a supercharger kit for the 7mge, if it turns out good with a good budget who knows it will be the 1st 7ms/c.

Boy that would take up a lot of room. You'd probably have to have the supercharger on the intake side around where the alternator is, so you would have to relocate the alt and do away with the AC. Then you'd have to buy or fab up entanks on an IC with one inlet on the intake side, and two on the exhaust side of the engine, probably with the upper one larger to better get the most air into the TB as possible.

^ with 8-10 psi, a procharger would probably not have to be intercooled. I realy dont see how it is all that complex compared to upgrading a turbo (or going turbo from N/A)... when you upgrade you usually need a new exh. mani, external wastegate, dp, and new oil lines. relocating the alt. is not hard, a lot of people do this for their FFIM. If he is starting out N/A and does not have huge goals, I dont understand why a little extra work isnt worth the benifits of a supercharger. just my 2 cents.

There is a whole thread on this under the 7M-GE tech, where I went into some detail on my 7M-GZE that I use an Eaton M90 on (only 100cc/rev larger than the SC14-1GG blower).

But one thing I have learned about the SC14 blowers is that to get decent boost out of them, you need to throw away the elec. clutch.
I used to sell the SC14 (and still have one), and have worked with a lot of guys on the application of this unit.
The sepentine belt is another likely slipage point.
This size blower will make about 15 psi boost if turned twice crank speed, and will draw about 50 HP to do it.
The belt, and clutch are not capable of driving that much power.
There are direct drive pulleys around, but they still take the same belt, so it does not cure the problem.

I have included a picture of where the SC14 was hung on the 1G engine.
