Hey alls... Ive done some searching but no luck finding the answer...

I'm hardwiring the supermonitor... according to a post I found on here... one of the pins goes to the ABS module... however my car doesnt have ABS... SSSOOOOO... what will this effect if I dont hook up that pin?

yes. im assuming its for the speed sensor so it can calculate the mpg and such.

edit: oil change intervals will be off and everything speed/miles related.

Ok... so what is pin 5 on the abs module? is it an input to the module our an output? if its an input... where is it coming from?

Assuming stuff often makes one wrong, which you are in this case.

For some reason I am with jetjock.

I thought Speed could be taken from the cluster inputs as well. TEMS cars I am not sure if they all get ABS or not, but they have sensors too..

I am looking into this now.

I have an n/a with super monitor, but no abs, and when I do the diagnostic it says "A.B.S 00" So maybe the abs wires are grounded somehow?

im pretty sure about knowing this(correct me if im wrong) but all the sm comps are different if you have turbo or n/a and abs was a option so there will be different sm out there. just like if you want to hook up a ge sm to a gte car you will have mileage that will be wrong.

The only difference between the SMs are the fuel/mileage readings between the turbo and non turbo cars... wiring is the same...

I'm leaning towards it being for abs code readout...

no its not as the turbo will use more fuel since it has bigger injectors and they have a turbo and n/a sm comp. i have a n/a sm comp and it says ge on it not gte which i have seen pics of.

Thats what im refering to... the computers are tuned different for fuel mileage and what not... but wiring, etc... is all the same from what ive been reading

Ive also read that all pre 89 cars have the plug... is this true? If it is... I wont be doing any wiring....

all pre 89 "should" have the connectors under the drivers dash for the sm comp, which will make it pnp but you would have to check.

Wires to ABS Computer, ECT Computer, etc. need not be connected if you do not have these systems. It is purely for collecting codes from them.

Speed sensor comes from the speedometer, the only system that uses the ABS speed sensors is ABS, nothing else.

Good to hear about the speed sensor, that is what I thought the speed came from.

Hmm... no such luck on having the plug... unless it is hidden somewhere.... neither my 88 parts car or my 87 have it....

Anyways... I do have a question however....

What is the white box on the back of the cluster? My NA cluster didnt have this yet there is a plug behind the cluster that wasnt hooked up.. that looks like it goes to this box...

Also... This is a turbo cluster... I hooked it up and all the gauges including the tach work (which i didnt think the tack was supposed to work??) and the boost gauge pegs 8+... will this damage the gauge?

I'm swapping the turbo motor in spring... should I just wait on the cluster until then?

Reason why the gauge pegs is, there is no input, when I disconnected my plug from the sensor in the engine bay it did the same thing or if a vacuum line comes off.
