Ok so ive been looking for a new turbo due to the fact
that after replacing my hg i noticed my CT26 had a really bad
crack in it.

After weeks of reading posts and what not ive come to decide
within 2-3 turbos, and my hp goal is 400-450.

Mods: 2.5 FMIC, hks bov, egt, boost etc guages, arp's, felpro hg.

But its the sp57-sp61 or An upgraded 57trim or H-Trim(58trim) CT26?

I know the sp57 and 61 will give me alot of room with hp but im not
sure what all i will need to install it? and spooling has been heard to be
fairly quick.

The CT26 ive heard and seen hit 400+ponies but i know its kinda pushing
the ct26 and when you push things, things dont last. and i need something
that will last me a couple years?

I only plan on pushing 1bar at the most on either turbos.

Ive tried calling sound performance but they just acted like they didnt
want to talk or anything and just kept asking "Do you want the turbo or not?"

So heres my questions.

If i went the SP way, which would you prefer, 57 or 61?
And if i got one of those, what all would i have to buy afterwards?
New lines? Manifold? Wastegate?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Take a look at the BOSS turbos on SupraSport. I have an SP61GT...if the BOSS turbos had been available at the time, there is no question what I would do for a bolt on option ;)

The guys at SP are normally busy with quite a few customer cars, so it's always easier to contact them by e-mail. I've always received quick responses, and they've always been more than glad to answer any questions I've had.

As for turbo choice, I couldn't comment either way

Really? Which boss? Im assuming the Jr?
Would it be cheaper to get the Jr+Installation kit
than to buy the sp57 setup?

No hes talking about the full size boss turbo's, T4 frame.
My suggestion would be either the jt56 or jt61gt. The jt 56 is a to4e .57 trim, and it will get you over 400whp. The 61gt is gt35(r), and that should get you closer to the 450whp, on pump. The jt series turbo has the lipp/boss ss exhaust to boot :naughty:

I don't know what SP is selling their turbos for now-n-days, but it would be less that what I spent. The Stage 4 BOSS Sr with a GTS housing, but that depends on your power goals.
The Jr is a step above an upgraded CT26.

Well the sp57 is like $935 or $995.
&& i definetly dont have the money for a BOSS Sr, nor would i need
all that much extra room for power, I know alot of people always say "Always buy something that can give you more room to grow" But i mean this is my DD and i dont need a 600+hp, for here soon i plan to get my own place and at 600+ i know things start to break, and i wont have that much money to replace alot of parts. like i stated above, My goal is around 400-450, I wont be taking it to the track but you know every now and then i would like to get on it and play around with some other cars on the road.

Who sells the jt turbos?
I looked on hybrid motorsports but its like 1,250 just for the 56?!
If thats how they all are then im good on those lol.
I understand that nice things arent cheap and cheap things arent
nice but thats just out of my price range.

And also you guys never really answered my question, if i bought
the sp57-61 What all extra would i have to buy? t4 mani, ex wastegate?
Ive been trying to look on SP's site, but all there links are still messed up
so you cant click on any of there turbos.

Anyways i appreciate you guys helping me out.

The only bolt on to the stock manifold that SP sells is the SP61/67 turbo...it's $1200 and does not include a DP iirc.

Sounds like a BOSS Jr will fit your needs...mate that up to a BIC divorced DP and you'll have all the spool you need.

FYI - If you do go with a SP61 or one of the JT turbos, BIC makes a DDP for them too...on any of the DDPs, I would have it routed back into the exhaust (unless you want it really loud when the WG opens). The black ceramic coat is an excellent option as well.

Yea the boss jr, the more i look and read about it, the more i realize
its basicly perfect, but then i always go back and look at the brand new
57trim from DM thats only $650...

So its $650(Upgraded CT26) vs $1300(Boss Jr)

Pros and cons from what i understand:
Boss has more reliability than the Upgraded CT26.
Boss has more top end And rpm power than the Upgraded CT26.
And boss has $600 on the CT.
Now my delima is from that stated above, is an extra $600 worth it?

Maybe Dalai Lama? :D

Failure - The BOSS Jr has a Garrett center and a new wastegate actuator. The wheels and housings are superior as well.

iirc the bic ddp bolts up to the boss jr but the separator will have to be modified slightly to get a proper seal.

You have to realize you won't come close to 450 hp on a upgraded CT pushing 1 bar (14.7 psi).

Looking at numerous dyno graphs, a 57 trim will yield on average ~360 whp at 18psi.

On the other hand you can easily reach ~400 whp at ~15 psi with the SP61GT or JT61GT.

Im confused you say the jt56 is out of your price range but your looking at a smaller turbo that cost more(boss jr.)

Ummmm:

JT56 Lightning $1250 + $200 install kit = $1450
BOSS Jr $1000 + $245 install kit = $1245
SP61 $1200 + ??? $ for lines etc.

Granted, the JT56 is a larger turbo, but it does not cost less.

I remember reading a thread about the JT56 lightening turbo being dynoed to see what kind of power it can make at various boost pressures (10,12,15,17 psi etc) when it was released a few years ago.

Did this ever happen? I havent seen any new threads on it.

It would be nice to see how it compares to a boss jr.

I see what your saying he quoted the "$1,300" boss jr kit, unless hes meaning $1,300 for the jr and install kit, then i understand.

I'll search for the thread when I get some free time. I believe it was dated back in 06/07.
I dont think the lightening was dynoed at the various boost levels so its pretty much a useless thread but I will try to look for it regardless.
