so i've got a small welder, a little extra time and an idea.

wouldn't it be fun to weld myself a straight 2.5 inch exhaust from the header/downpipe back?

i'm talking straight pipe, nothing but a flange on one end and a few hangers. it'll be cut and welded at proper angles to make turns.

i know that this is probably not a good idea, but it only has to hold up a short time. i just wanna see how it all sounds and performs with no restrictions whatsoever. forgt the catalytic converter and muffler/resonator, this will just be stainless steel.

a cop magnet, but i won't have it on the car long enough to travel any distance to attract cops.

whats anyone think?

hmmm.........i gotts CLIP just for the wheel bearing thing i think it would be complete rice j/k j/k supras will never be rice ever and since your na you might notice a loss of power instead since na's use restriction to "scavenge" exhaust gas out of the cylinders since theres nothing forcing it out thats why turbo cars can run such huge exhausts and have no performance issues. the overlap of the valves under boost actually forces the exhaust gas out instead of by vacuum like being na

ive only heard of power losses through 3" or bigger stuff on an NA. I think that 2.5 might create enough back pressure to keep it steady if not give it a little gain. besides, how can 6 cylinders sound like rice? haha:drink1:

Why stainless? If its just going to be there for a short time, mild or aluminized steel is much cheaper and easier to weld.

An exhaust cutout is a Y pipe where one end goes to nothing, and theres a lever to switch between the normal exhaust and the cutout. so you have an open flowing exhaust on demand without having to switch out all the pipes.

I have a pic of the Group A exhaust at home but its not gonna be an easy feat if this is your first time welding an exhaust.

i was thinking about a solenoid controlled door for a cutout, but ruled it out as too expensive.

and bring on the group a exhaust. yeah its my first time, but it's gotta come sometime.

anyone know the flange size i'll need to bolt the 2.5 inch pipe up to where the cat would sit?

and Stretch, is that a side exit?

Yes, side exit exhaust. It seperates into 3 pipes at the end to minimize ground clearance, as if you had that huge pipe exiting under the side of the car, then it would equal close to zero clearance :biglaugh:
