my girlfriend gave me some topgear dvds from BBC, but they're all region 2 :(

can anyone here explain to me how to convert them to region 1, or pal to ntsc? i have a few pages on the web but they seem to be very complicated and i can't keep up. have any of you done this before and are willing to do it again?

and why in the hell do regions even exist?

send em to me and I can watch em =p I have a region free dvd player from Norway :D

Or just play em on your computer [I think that should work]. A lot of PS2s and etc are region free. My xbox [modded] is region free aswell.

Okay - first thing you need to do it change the DVD drive to an RPC1 firmware. I suggest you look for one at http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php

Once you've flashed your drive with an RPC1 firmware, the drive is no longer locked to a specific region. Then you can play them in whatever software application you like, although i recommend getting a piece of software off SourceForge called Media Player Classic. It looks like the old Windows Media Player on the surface but underneath it has inbuilt MPEG2 decoding and a bunch of other features that are rather handy. It's less than 2mb in size as well.

Here's the URL for it:

Did i mention it's totally free to use and doesnt have any annoying advertisements or limitations? :)
