So over the weekend I figured i would change the fuel filter in my car. Ok. Look around and find out it should be infront of the gas tank. Look there, nope, it all looks factory. I then break out the Haynes manual my brother bought me last year for xmas(dont buy one). Look up fuel filter and it says:

"(87-88) fuel filter is located next to the starter motor"
"(89-92) fuel filter is located infront of fuel tank"

So I look next to the starter motor, nothing. But I can see where my AN line for my AFPR meets a small rubber hose then goes into the hardline leading to the tank. Ok so the fuel filter got deleted during the build by Ken. No biggy. So i went to Napa and got a filter for a Z31 300zx. Anyways, after some research I come up with this thread on SF about fuel filters being completely removed for Toyota service manuals and that the filter NEVER needs to be changed. Supposedly the mk3 filter has so much filter space thats its equivalent to 100 filters.(http://supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=219703). After some more research i come to find out that in the 87 TSRM it says the filter is infront of the tank. So what happened in 88?

Its in front of the tank.

On my car it didnt look that way at all. I just think its funny that Toyota makes the filter intentionally extremely hard to see just so you wont mess with it.

LOL - there's lots of urban legends about the Supra fuel filter.

Toyota mechanic here told me they never get plugged because they were designed with such a weak element that anything just goes through it. :D

I changed mine at 250000km. Made no difference in the way the car ran. I changed it because i had the fuel tank out. Some milky white looking fluid was dripping out of it when i took it off

there isn't an argument. the manual in question is the HAYNES....

Just what I was going to say. That is just one of many, many reasons almost nobody uses the Haynes manual for the supra. There are errors galore. Stick to the TSRM and you will never go wrong.

Buy a TSRM - Swiped from SC's sig.
