I get someone to hold the hood up, then put my hand on the top of the strut and bounce the car. Keep going until you find what's loose.

Grimjack, will i be able to feel it if its the top strut mount? Also, i only get the knock when hitting uneven surfaces (cant say speedbumps cause i crawl over those) in the road, and random potholes n shit. well not potholes, but yeah. i cant even really get it to make the noise swurving left and right really hard like im doing a cone slalom thing.
Yea, i think ur stop mounts are dead IMO. It is an annoying sound when going over little bumps and even pavements. Try to follow Grimjack directions to see if you can feel/ hear the noise when you do that. If your shocks or springs failed the ride will be horrible physically when driving such as bouncing all over and bottom out. Also, check for leaks from shocks to see if they are actually failing or not
Yes, you'll be able to tell. If it's what I think it is, the big nut on the top of the shock will be loose, and bouncing the car will let you feel it moving up and down.
Top nut is the most likely culprit. 17mm IIRC.
It could also be a bad bushing in the lower mount. It's part of the strut but can be ordered independently. Or loose mounting nuts (12mm)...
I'd just double check all nuts/bolts in that area and take it for a drive.
I was just pushing coilover because although I love my Tokico Illumina II/B&G setup, I wish I would have saved an extra month and gone coilover.

Buying a shock and spring combo doesn't mean it is better. The car has shocks, not struts if you haven't picked that part up yet. A strut is a damper that replaces the upper ball joint, and carries a load.

Wasn't the nut under the rubber piece @ the top of the mount. I also tried to shake the car but i couldnt hear anything. Im gonna have to wait till the weekend or something before i can get time to pull the tire off and check things out.
