Stroke a 1JZ...

I was building up a 1J around my turbo kit and thought about this...

The 1J and 2J cranks are the same, why not use a 2JZ stroker kit (pistons included) on a 1J with custom rods?

I'm looking at the Titan Poorboy 3.2L kit for the 2J.

EDIT: The things I think about when I'm on vacation....

No way man... Impossible.

As far as the stroked 1JZ. I would do it. I like my Blitz twins but a little extra kick a little earlier in the RPM never hurt anybody. Not sure if you've driven your car yet with the K26s.

Yeah but the source is someone who actually seems to know. The turbo kit I have hates the 2cm taller deck height.

I drove it, I just never had a change to boost it up though. I kinda wish I went with a stock 1J harness/electronics, and just ordered a Sard ECU or something. I just don't have the ability to swap out electronics since I made the entire harness for the Stinger.

I would have drove the shit out of it before the shim went out. Fuck it.

Cranks are not same! I have them here at the shop and I can tell you they are not the same!

Not even a little bit? Because I really don't want to use another 2J block....

If I use a large enough hammer, will it fit?

It's just impossible. They can't be the same.

Only way to affect displacement is bore X stroke X # of cylinders.

1J stroke is 71.5mm. 2J stroke is 86mm. We know these for fact.

I don't know what crack Orin was smoking, but I'm sure it's illegal in 50 states.

everything i have seen says the 1j deck hight is differant from the 2j thats why they use the 2j lower end.... besides if u have the cash for a stroker kit im sure a 2-300 for a 2j block wouldnt be all that hard... then u can just run a 3.4L 1J lol!!! wich would be awesome

edit: why go 1.5JZ when you can go 3.4JZ..... ha i think its catchy

What's up Jeff? I don't know anything about cranks, but I wanted to say hi and hope your vacation is going well. I now have a Stinger installed on my car. Can't wait for you to get back home so we can have a meet. Cya

The whole reason I want to keep the 1J block is that the turbo kit I have was made specifically for the deck height of the 1JZ. You can't tell by looking at the motor, or all of it in the car, but when I actually installed the downpipes, intake pipes, and the intercooler piping, they were made to a specific tolerance, and 2cm was a lot. I can get longer silicone hoses, but the main issue is the exhaust. One of my downpipes rests against the firewall. If I take off the heat wrap, the downpipe might not hit anything, but it's sure going to get a lot warmer. I don't want to modify the kit, because it's so damn rare. I would rather have a built engine first than to even shape out a firewall.

I was throwing ideas out there because I'm really annoyed with that 2cm height difference, and I'm a stickler for everything working and fitting properly.

Suprahero, how do you like the Stinger?

I love it. I still have to buy an LC1 wideband for it so I can tune it without using Blakes wideband. I'm always running rich when I leave there. His reads way leaner than mine, but it may because of the load compared to on the road. I picked up thirty something peak horsepower but I made almost 100 rwhp and torque at 4900rpm. My car dyno'd at 479rwhp and 396.7 torque.

Wow.

Physically impossible to have two motors, one with a 71.5mm stroke, and the other with an 86mm stroke, using the exact same crankshaft.

The crankshaft throws are what give you how much stroke your engine is running.

1JZ and 2JZ uses different cranks, period. Now, if the main journals are the same diameter, and the same distance apart in the block, then yes, you could run a 2JZ crank in a 1JZ with custom rods. Why you would want such a short rod motor, though, escapes me.
