Actually it could be a great buy for someone. Here's why ... and I give the info in case his happens to someones car and they want to keep it ...
Side note/reference: I developed and taught a series of classes for Park University and taught them around the country in MOLD PREVENTION AND REMEDIATION seminars to professionals a few years ago. (A good resource is
www.epa.gov BTW). The course was not automotive- specific, but here is my application.
Mold thrives at >60% relative humidity. Dry air (air conditioning) kills it.
It releases spores that go everywhere. Some mold is toxic but most is not. Detergent and bleach (1:10 mix in water) kills it also.
So what I would do if this were my prize car is ...
Clean all surfaces with a detergent (kills it). The mold should come right off.
Close the windows and let the interior get HOT all day. Run the A/C with windows down for ten minutes.
Clean carpets with foaming cleaner. If they are soaked, pull them back and let them dry out first. Make sure there is no water being trapped. Sometimes heat and ventilation can evaporate it all over a few days if cycled right.
Again, close the windows and let the interior get HOT all day. Again, run the A/C with windows down for ten minutes.
Wipe everything down again. Coat with ArmorAll or STP Son of a Gun or similar.
The headliner should be cleaned like the carpet if needed, but you may get way with just vacuuming it.
So just in case it ever happens to your Supra - this will work.
