sigh, just when I fixed one supra, another one decided to throw a fit for shit and giggles........

it's nothing serious, but it's annoying as hell and retarded

so, my 86.5 non-turbo daily driver decided that I spent to much time and love on the turbo and decided to be a bitch and the stop lights now don't work

at first I thought......oh, there goes the gay lamp failure box, so I decided to follow Lewis15498's DIY here http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82576&highlight=tail+light+wiring

to get rid of the damn thing........ then I checked, the tail light works (it did before anyways) but the stop light still won't come on, I checked and rechecked whether there was power to the lines, and there was

I then changed all the fuse (the small ones, I don't know how to get the relay out)

and still, the god damn thing won't turn on

so basically
1. the tail light works
2. the stop light would not work
3. when pressing the brake pedal, the dash would light up, along with the front running lights and the tail light, but the stop light won't light up

I need your expertise please :( I tried my best on my own but apparently the bitch won't have any of it!!!:icon_evil

I'm confused.... not too hard to accomplish today... ;)

So, are you saying the lights at the rear of the car DO light up when you press the brake pedal? Are you expecting the brake light on the dash to light up or something? The dash brake indicator only indicates a problem with the brake system or the parking brake being engaged.

And the whole dash is lighting up when you press the pedal? If the dash is lighting up when you press the pedal, you've got a short and quite possibly it's just due to connecting the wrong wires when deleting the lamp failure module.

sigh, sorry if I confuse you

when I press the pedal
1- the TAIL LIGHT lights up, not the STOP light
2. The dash lights up
3. The parking light (front ones) lights up

but not the STOP LIGHT!!!!

how can you guys be confused - -

when I press the brake pedal without turning on the lights (as in, when it's dark and you turn on the light with the stalk, you know?)

the tail lights come on (like when you turn the stalk and the head light pops up and the tail light comes on)

if I turn on the lights and press the brake pedal, nothing happens............

the 3rd tail light never comes on

Screwed up rewire... you jumped the brake and the tail wiring. If you turn on the head lights do the brake lights turn on?

Cause you suck at explaining problems! Now we know you mean the 3rd brake light!

As far as why your headlights and dash turn on when pressing the brake I seriously have no damn idea! That sir is really strange!

^ negative, and I didn't screw the wiring, you can't possibly screw the wiring, there's 4 f'ing wires.............- -

and no, the brake lights don't come on regardless, it never comes on, and the fuse is fine, and there is power to the line when I press the brake pedal.........

at this point I'm thinking either the previous dude rewired the brake light switch wrong, or the relay failed.....because I have no clue why it's not coming up
