Hi Guys my supra had squashed front stone deflectors. So i've taken one off and was going to make one to weld in but something has come up.
I got my 2mates and one has a hardtop and other Targa top both 1990 and its missing them like factory sealer where they would go. According to the epc Z20 soarers are supposed to have them but 2 that I seen last night don’t have them.

Are they really needed according to epc and Toyota guy he said if there are structural they wouldn’t come up as deflector? Also ive noticed no flex difference when jacking my car with roof off and on

There is no warning of that in the owner's manual.

On a side note, C3 vettes require you to remove the glass targa and pop the back hatch.

yeah but do you think they provide any chassis strentgth even though they are 1mm thick steel and not part of the chassis section of the EPC?? mz20 have same chassis and dont have them even though epc says they do??

I come from a land down under
They don't actually tie any members together so would add minimal strength, might stiffen the floor there a little and of course deflect stones when the steering is turned. (think midmount flaps on rally cars)

My plan is to seal up with body deadner. after its regoed ill mod the chassis for strentgh.

In my opinion if it was a chassis stretghner it should be in thicker steel not 1mm thickness which is crap! now my mate is winging he crushed his hahah. Ian have you heard of anyone modding a Aerotop chassis for strentgh? and I dont mean rollcage or doluck braces lol

I have a few ideas how to stiffen it and there's a discussion about it already but having said that I just tuned my suspension to take the flex into account so I'm not overly fussed.

I'm seeing .95 lateral G's here with it letting go above 1G on street tires so that's good enough for me and my 1800 Kg Fat car :)

It's funny this was posted up!!! I have one that looks like it was tore off.. :nono: The thing that stumped me was that the sup was never took off road, or never seen a ditch. I noticed that it was missing one day when I was putting a new gaskets for the test pipe. Prior to buying the car and transmission swaps I knew for a fact that they both were on there. It seemed as if it was put on with some sort of adhesive??? :aigo:
