My 87 is wingless never had one and I got ahold of the stock wing for it , I really like the look and the fact the car wont look like a probe anymore. Anyways I was wondering if anybody had a diagram that shows the positioning or some pic's that I can use to place the wing correctly.

You could just search for pics, but for starters you need to mention what kind of spoiler you have purchased, if it's the pre-89 it will mount differently than the 3-piece 89+ spoiler.

As for a diagram, I can't help you there. TSRM doesn't seem to have info on the spoiler...oddly.

I can't speak for the 87/88 wing, but the 89+ wing has three parts:
CENTER-two brackets on the sides that the wing screws into from the side, two nuts that go on the studs in the center of the wing, and a third hole that the wiring for the third brake light goes through.
SIDES-there are two brackets that the side pieces screw into, and two nubs that just pop into fasteners that are part of the fender.

Honestly, this is probably one of those things that is best to leave to a body guy. I just bought a Regulus spoiler, and my buddy Ted is going to be setting it up for me. Lot better of an idea than anything I could come up with haha...

I installed an OEM 3 piece wing on my 86.5, and that's the hardest, since 86.5 hatches do not have the easy-access holes to tighten down the bolts, had to use long wrenches, and feel in there, took longer than expected, but it wasn't too hard..

I used lipstick on the protruding pegs and mounts, lined up the spoiler (luckily the 3 piece has body contours which will let you know where to position it) with the body, and pressed down..

I drilled where the lip stick was left, and that was it..

ITS THE STOCK WING FOR AN 87 not a three piece like on the 89up its the single piece wing. The TSRM lacks the images I need. I can center thing wing thats not the hard part but determining the correct distance to the rear is the issue does it sit flush with the end of the hatch? With most pics I just cant tell.

Honestly, it would look better sitting further back than the OEM location..

but all you would have to do is ask someone to measure the distance on the wing from the ends and from the sides, and you can lay down guides with masking tape (recommended anyway, so you don't ruin paint)..

Thats my problem I don't know anybody with a mk3 locally that I can measure off of. I always use paint and highspeed bits when dealing with paint.

Ok, here are some photos, note; dimensions shown are approximate and depending on the angle you look at them the dimension will seem to change, measure twice "cut" once. I think the hardest part was finding the center of the hatch horizontally, I used string (for future I would suggest wire or fishing line, = no stretching) , tape measure, and some masking tape to try to get it dead center, good luck!

Very sorry to hear that man, good luck with everything and I hope she recovers well.

When you get back around to this, don't forget you can put some tape on there to protect your paint and slide it around until you think it looks good. Not sure about how it will effect aerodynamics, but aside from that just make sure you can get to the fasteners from beneath if you decide to move it far from the general stock location. I don't imagine you would but just encase.

Until later, best wishes!
