Stock VS. 3" Exhaust Difference?

Ill start by saying I have a stock 7m-gte, with the exception of a SSQV and shimmed wastegate at 9psi.

Just curious to know how much horsepower is added going from the stock restrictive exhaust, to a full 3" exhaust off the turbo (including elbow and DP).

Does anybody have before and after dyno results?
Also, how much does it usually increase the boost? Any fuel cut issues (with a non-shimmed wastegate actuator)

first thing i did was upgrade to a 3" exhaust... very noticeable difference. increases boost about 1-2psi
then i did the downpipe and elbow and that increased boost by another 2psi
i feel that exhaust and intake should be the best bang for the buck in the early stages of upgrading a stock mk3.
no i didnt hit fuel cut... but no two cars are identical so that doesnt mean that you wont

Considering I shift at 2K RPM and start spooling at 1500 RPM... All because my exhaust.

Anyone that says that you'll lose bottom end torque is WRONG.

Spend $25 on a DrJones Manual Boost Controller, and take the shims out of the wastegate. My car got 12-14 pounds of boost out of a Meagan downpipe 2 1/2" inlet, 3" the rest of the way out of the car, intake, and MBC. I may have gotten better, but hit fuel cut usually around 12 1/2 PSI. Then I usually had to back down the MBC a tad.

Yeah I started with an intake then upgraded to a 3 inch downpipe and 3 inch cat back and it was like a whole new car, im not much farther in my upgrades and im still pretty pleased.

best mods to start

1. Intake
2. Exhaust downpipe and elbow back to the end 3 inc hor bigger
3. boost controller
then go from there......

I take it you mean 5" tip on the tail pipe? Or do you mean 5" from the turbo back :biglaugh:
