Stock turbo rebuild

Just finished a engine swap installing a used low miles jdm 7m gte, and although engine runs well, I get amazing blue smoke from exhaust. Prior to install I pulled the head and replaced guide seals and the bores still showed crosshatch and no ridge, so I think the fault is with the turbo. Stock ct-26 and has some side to side shaft movement, I am guessing 10 thou or more. Fins do not scrape yet and unit spins smoothly (as far as one can tell with finger spin) so can I rebuild this unit replacing bearing and seals? Is it worth doing or should I buy something else? Thanks

You can try to rebuild just replacing the bearings and seals, but you most likely will not be successful.

On a typical turbo rebuild, the bores have to be checked for roundness and straightness.

Every thing has to be cleaned and micro polished.

The assembly and individual pieces have to be balanced.

For rebuild parts, check out your nearest turbocharger diesel rebuilder for parts. Ask them for Turbo International parts.
