stock turbo pipe/hose -> intercooler

Well some of you were right (i wasn't sure though since i never had a turbo car) i have a boost leak......a bad one at that. The rubber pipe from the turbo to the metal elbow busted all around the clamp. I was wondering if this is a factory part because of its heavy useage/pressure or it could be replaced by any high pressure tube/hose from an auto store? Thanks for any info

yes, u can buy the hoses from toyota. however, they are expensive, u might as well just upgrade.

I know i can get them from toyota but more of what i was asking was can i get them elsewhere ie NAPA, Autozone, Advanced or even just use some high pressure hose and cut to the length an auto store may have? how expensive are we talking here for factory replacement? Upgrade to what?

well, u can purchase a universal 2.5" aluminum intercooler piping kit for something like ~$100 shipped. that should have everything u need. couplers, clamps, pipes. etc... measure and cut to fit and then assemble. usually pipes from toyota are something like $45 a piece and they are the same as what u have so u might as well upgrade.

NAPA, Autozone, and Advance will NOT carry these parts as far as i know. u'll have to go through the dealer for those.

Your asking about the lower IC pipe (turbo -> IC inlet)? If that IC you have has the input on the low part of the core on the pass side, then you could pick up a nice hard pipe that is an exact fit from Speed Source (I think they are somewhere in the misc vendor section). Under $100 and its a direct fit, all metal pipe (no cutting).

Well my issue is a have dyno tuning scheduled for Thursday this week, and i can't move it b/c ill just have to wait another few weeks and this is my only car

a soft rubber 'pipe' will expand with boost pressure anyway, and should only be used as a temp solution. Maybe check and see if there are any big diesel shops around - they might have something that would work in a pinch

theres no reason to dyno if you have a busted ic pipe. heres your choices:
1. get a pipe from speedsource (about $100)
2. get a new pipe from toyota
3. get one made
4. see if you can cut the old pipe and still have it reach while you wait for your new pipe

past that theres not anything else really

take your car to an exhaust shop, they should be able to fab you a pipe no problem.

That or go get some heavy duty turbo diesel radiator hose in the right size. You local auto store should have everything you need to fix this. Take the whole pipe off and take it to the place and see what they can match it up to .

Well i went to NAPA this morning and got a radiator hose, what i thought would fit. Well as it turns out i was way off so i had to cut it quite a bit. I got it to fit so everything is working properly. I can't stress the difference in the car this has made. Its great. I noticed the tube is not as thick as the original, probably 75% of the orig. thickness. My question is, what kind of pressure typically can these pipes handle at higher timperature??? Also, can anyone post a link to an aftermarket one? I called the toyota dealer and they said the hose is $120!!!!!!!!! Even the guy who looked it up for me reacted to the high price, he didn't believe it either.

The piece you bought is a bandaid and should be considered as one. Take it easy on it until you can get a good, reliable replacement.
