the stock one wouldn't hold for long, because eventually the rod studs (OEM) will snap. With the ARP it will just stretch over time. I would recommend changing the rods bolts to ARP. the piston and the rods apply the most preassure on the engine, so i would recommend going ARP rod studs. And No, no one is an idiot they just need time for them self to learn. :)

the stock 7m gte is good for 500hp as been stated on here many many times... NOBODY has yet said they have had a rod or main stud fail at this level....
Now offcourse i could be wrong... but i have read just about everything on here and no place is it a issue at that level...500 hp and under... and some are 550 hp

And some of us need to read the thread. He has already changed to ARP for the head and rods. This thread concerns the mains.

If the engine is apart, I would do it personally as it's not THAT expensive to do.

The studs load the caps differently though, so you have to line bore the mains again.

whats really funny is the fact that supra head and main studs are the same size.

BUT. while rebuild my buddies engine, which was from a 90 eclipse gsx, his mains were smaller than his head studs... i was like wtf? but i guess we make a lot more power then them also... haha

my thoughts are.............the motor is apart, and out of the car..........they are too cheap to not put in at this point in your build.......$130 that can let you sleep better at night........just my 2 cents:icon_bigg

well might as well get aftermarket rods and pistons to then... replacing parts that will hold up to the power level you want is waste of money.. good money that can be spent on better things .. like stopper head gasket...that is were id spend the money..
