A stock hg, torqued correctly will hold that.

With a mhg its going to cost you some coin. Youll need to get the block and head decked and resurfaced. Which can require quite abit of money.

With a stock hg, you just take the old off and swap in the new. Provided that the head and block are within tollernce.

Hope this helps.

i have stock hg with arp studs, Im currently at 380rwhp for atleast 15,000 miles now since the hg swap. I did send the head out to get checked for warpage and cracks.

I looked at it as this, If my tune somehow is slightly off and i risk detonation, before i melt a piston, the stock hg will let go and ill rather change a hg than take apart a motor again and change a melted piston.

so you saying that you just replaced a stock toyota head gasket with out resurfacing and dont have any problems? reason asking is because i have done couple of MHG on cars with only resurfacing the head and not the block and never had any problems but this was not a supra, was other toyota vehicles. im just asking if you have any problems? and i have read that people on this forum keeps saying that you need to resurface the head and block so you will not have any problems.

You only need to resurface the head and block when putting on an mhg. Unless one of the 2 are royally screwed then you could resurface it before putting a stock hg on.

But usually you can just take the old hg off, clean the surfaces, lap it a few times if you want, and then put the new one on. Torque to about 80 lbs and your golden.

you should resurface the head anytime you change the hg. also pressure testing and checking for cracks that pressure testing might not find.

our heads have a bad habit of being out of tolerances pretty easy especially if its been over heated before.

yea im changing my HG for the fun of it, cause it has 160K and i just picked it up and i had a feeling they never changed it since it was leaking oil pretty bad, and i did research on the BHG problem, and the HG started to break off once i pulled it off at the 6th cylinder, but no oil/coolant mix, so im lucky that im doing it now.

also i called the dealership, how does 114$ for the head-gasket cost? and one heard cheaper?

I have the same train of thought :) Rather save the motor until I am ready for the big steps. I am going to be running composite with ARP's also

na my turbo seal was blown, which i already repaired, but all of my other gasket was leaking oil, this is my headgasket, but was not blown during of use time, the 6th cylinder was starting to rip apart when i was taking it apart, and i have done couple of gasket and motor rebuilds and haven't seen that before

that what a crappy original toyota hg will do.

To clear up my post i did get my head machined flat but they only had to machine very little bit to make it flat again.
