How about changing the color of the clock? Anyone done it?
Nope. I was in the process of building a replacement module, but I've found a better use for the space.
I posted details about the VFD used in the clock display for anyone who wishes to continue the former search for a replacement, HERE. And NO, blue tint doesn't work, already tried it for someone.
There are some very inexpensive alarm clocks out there which use 7 Segment LED displays and ICs which are capable of being driven with DC. You just need to build a frequency generator (60Hz) and in most cases the PCB will have to be mounted somewhere else due to size.
Then a little work with a couple relays so it only lights up when the car is on and so it dims when the headlights are turned on.
