Stock clutch

Just curious, how much is the stock clutch rated to? At what power level do most people start to have issues? Right now I am pushing about 13 psi on the stock turbo with a DDP, intake and exhaust and want to be sure.

Im somewhere are 280ish and its holding for me.

I would just go till it slips and get a better clutch.

A stock cluth will start to fail right around 300 ft/lbs of torque. If it lives past that it wont last too long. NOW a stock Toyota Oem Pressure plate and a 6 puck ceramic disk will easy hold 400rwtq all day long. I have been using this set up on my supra and couple of my buddies. I have used the ebay 6 puck ceramic disks and i have only welded one in tx2k8 right before final run :). Now Ralco make a stage 3 clutch for around $300 and im tempted to try one but the set up im explaining has worked for me for under $200.

It will....umm...... Well the proof is in MY oem clutch and MY dyno.

382 ft/tq at the wheels, add in 15% for drive train loss and it puts my stock OEM clutch holding 440 ft/tq at the flywheel. Why.......... I cant tell you but it is holding just fine with no sings of giving up ;)

New Toyota clutch set here. Im around 280-290 and doing 4500 launches on DR's and holding fine. Im sure its on borrowed time but its yet to slip once.

^^^^^^ X2 . I drive the hell out the stock pp and six puck for over a year and no slipping at all around 400 + lb/tq. At just around $200 for all the parts, Stock toyota OEM PP = $100, Ebay F1 racing 6 puck = $60 shipped, thow out and pilot bearings around $40 and thats it no trick around it.

If you dont like the ebay 6 puck you just make it $300 for the kit to include a Act 6 puck sprung disk. :beer:

THe F1 Racing 6 puck clutches are great! We use a lot of them in the 240's for drifting and they are all holding up excellent! I would recommend them for the cost any day!

Mine started slipping BAD after I cranked the boost from 11psi to 15-16 on stock twins, 1jz. Car made 320rwhp on 12psi at SILV, not sure how much torque it's at though, dyno didn't list that for us, sadly. That said, my disc is in decent shape, but the flywheel had a lot of heat damage. Oh well, upgraded to some 6 puck and 2800lb PP that Driftmotion sells. Good so far, but should be interesting getting this car going in snow with that clutch haha...
