I am just now finishing up my BHG, Blown Radiator (installed a Koyo), and Blown Heater Core. What a mess huh...?

Anyway, I'm just about done and I decided to fire her up and all of the gauges work fine except the boost gauge. It pegs as soon as I turn the key to the 'on' position.

My after market boost gauge works fine at key on and at idle.

Any ideas?

are you sure it's hooked up properly?

The guage wires are all fed to clips that in turn plug into the back of the cluster. And since it obviously moves the needle, I would say the wire isnt severed from the clip. So its prolly something else.
The stock guage is only good to 8lbs. And if your like everyone else on these forums you have plans to boost way above that. Invest in another guage.

Do you have a aftermarket one if so screw it and just up plug it

I thought about that and I'm not that partial to the stock gauge; but, I just hope that it doesn't indicate a bigger problem. Like electrical or vacum!

i dont know if this helps. but, my 87 n/a auto to turbo 5-speed swap included a turbo dash install. what i found was while the plugs exist to install the pressure sender unit and the plug to the gauge pack are there. there is a jumper wire missing between the 2 of them (toyota being cheap). al the same the gauge would would still head to the full up postion even with out any conection between the two units.
so i'd say yo have a broken conection between your gauge and sender unit on the fender.

I found the problem. It was a connector that I missed. The connector was a white two prong that was just behind the left side of the cluster.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! :D
