steering rack questions

My Car: 87T no PPS 5spd I need a new steering rack. Mine leaks badly. I have a chance to get a rack from a 90 or 91 N/A it has a pretty gnarly looking contraption at the pinion gear. Looks like it should be the PPS rack.... Would I be able to use that rack on my 87 non PPS?

If it is PPS, then nope it won't work properly...

Was the N/A a Sports package with the LSD? if so it's probably got PPS...

Yup the N/A is the top of the line (minus the turbo :biglaugh: ) it should have the 4:30 LSD in it right? Would that work well in my 87T or would that jsut wind out too fast? Also Will the axels out of the N/A fit mine? Be nice to have a spare set laying around

How much is that rack? because you can get a freshly rebuilt one for about $220

axles are identicle (and RARELY go out)

Personally, the lower gearing sucks as it just raises your RPM at cruising speeds, so unless you're drag racing it all the time, stock to the old one as you'll get far better gas milage...
